Farm bureau announces contest winners

The coloring book contest was for students in kindergarten through second grade. Winners were Ansis Rondina, Columbia Christian School (Columbia County), first place; Courtney Phelps, Gardner-Strong Elementary (Union County), second; and Elizabeth Jones, Mount Vernon-Enola (Faulkner County), third. The poster contest was for students in grades three through sixth. Winners were Frederique Worthy, West Memphis Christian School (Crittenden County), first place; Jorge Olivera, Huttig Elementary (Union County), second; and Suzanne Sorrells, Centerpoint Elementary (Clark County), third. The essay contest was for students in grades seven and eight. Winners were Remington Reed, Magnolia Junior High (Columbia County), first place, Matt Berry, Clinton Junior High (Van Buren County), second; and Brandee Cantrell, Cotter High School, (Baxter County) third. First-place winners in each category were awarded 100 dollars, second place, 75 dollars; and third place, 50 dollars. The contests are conducted annually to heighten agricultural awareness for students and educators across the state. The farm bureau is a nonprofit, private organization of more than 230 thousand families throughout the state that promote farm and rural life. (Copyright 2006 Newsroom Solutions, LLC)
