We've heard it all before: An ounce of vino and a sweet treat can go a long way on Valentines day, but can a little can and cocoa go hand and hand for heart health, too?

Cardiologist Dr. Jamon Pruitt with the Walker Heart Institute says it's true! But, there's a catch.

"You can't go get the whole pound of chocolate and eat it," said Pruitt.

Not only do these delicacies delight your tastebuds, they also help out the most loveable organ of all.

"They provide what we call antioxidants which help clean up the arteries and lower the bad kind of chloresterol," said Pruitt.

We're not talking about the milk chocolate here, you want the dark stuff.

"The darker the chocolate, the higher the cocoa, the more bitter it is, the better it is for you. But, in moderation and it should help with your factors for heart disease," said Pruitt.

So, for that Valentine's Day supper, some sweets and spirits could be just what the doctor ordered.
