The Senate committee on public health amended the bill  last week to include exemptions for pregnancies resulting from rape or incest. A House version of the bill passed with with 75 votes on Monday, but exempted only pregnancies that threatened the life of the mother.

The amended bill, included all three exemptions, now heads back to the house for consideration before heading to the governor's desk for his signature.

The bill passed the Senate on Tuesday with a vote of 25 to 7 but lawmakers did not vote quietly.
