"Well, they're hard-working people, the kind of people you'd say, 'You know, that's the kind of people i'd want to live next to."

Not everyone gets to say they're neighbors with the world's largest retailer.

And Bentonville mayor Bob McCaslin is proud to have them practically  right next door.

"Being home to the world's largest retailer has some inherent advantages, and it's the source of a lot of pride too," McCaslin says.

Walmart recently reported a profit increase of nearly 4 percent from the fourth quarter of 2012, compared to the year before.

"The fact that they continue to grow, they continue to report good earnings, along with the growth same store growth, they're doing a great job," McCaslin says.

The retail giant continues to invest in our community with plans to open a new store at this intersection in Bentonville.

"It is right next to the new 'I' street that the city has just completed," McCaslin says.

"This store will supply 65 new jobs to the area that do not exist today."

Three-hundred more jobs are expected in Springdale with a Walmart scheduled to open there too.

"Their (Walmart) culture is probably the most impressive in that they choose to invest back into each and every community that they do business in," McCaslin says.

A region and a retailer, prospering as partners.

"They are great community members," McCaslin adds.
