Every school day hundreds of kids file through the cafeteria line at Prairie Grove Middle School.

But for some these children, the cost of the meal is too much for their family to afford.

That is where the nonprofit Angel Lifeline steps up to help.

Founder of Angel Lifeline, Ken Ghen explains, "What we do is provide funds to feed children that kind of fall through the gap."

The nonprofit has special accounts set up at 3 local school districts including Prairie Grove.

When a student comes through the lunch line to eat and doesn't have money to pay, the nonprofit foots the bill.

Belinda Burgess who is the Child Nutrition Director for Prairie Grove schools said, "We know the circumstances. A lot of them we do. The ones that need it, we know they do. It's a proven fact that they work better with a full stomach than an empty stomach."

In its first year Angel Lifeline has already helped to pay for over 1,200 meals for students.

The nonprofit plans to expand into other districts and hopes to lend a hand to any child in Northwest Arkansas who would otherwise go without.

Ghen said, "Makes me feel like we can leave the world a little better place than when we got here."

"Everybody that works in the school business knows that's what we are here for, the children," said Burgess.
