Something new is coming to Magic Springs in Hot Springs that promises lots of fun in the sun this summer.

Magic Springs Water and Theme Park today unveiled plans for Splash Island, a giant interactive water play structure designed to give families a fun way to beat the massive Arkansas heat.

New in 2013, Splash Island will stand more than four stories tall and feature 10 colorful water slides, an enormous tipping bucket that dumps 1,000 gallons of water every ten minutes and more than 200 ways to get wet and stay cool this summer.  With slides, bubbler jets, water wheels, tipping buckets, water curtains, net climbs, pools and waterfalls, Splash Island will truly be the ultimate water oasis for guests of all ages.

"It's the coolest way to beat the heat," said Magic Springs Water and Theme Park General Manager, Steve Honeycutt.  "With the addition of Splash Island, our guests will have another new way to be active, stay cool, and have fun as a family.  Plus, in addition to the water play elements, this major water park addition will include new seating, shade and room to relax."

When guests need a break from the action or want to catch some rays, they will be able to relax on the ample new lounge deck surrounding Splash Island.  The multi-million dollar expansion also includes plenty of new shade.

"We are excited about the impact that Splash Island will have on attracting returning and new visitors to Hot Springs," said Steve Arrison, CEO of the Hot Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau   "As the only water and theme park in our region, the addition of this new attraction will make Magic Springs Water and Theme Park, and Hot Springs, an even more desirable destination."

The Splash Island expansion is part of an integrated plan to continue park improvements designed to focus on families and is the fourth major attraction to be constructed in the destination's water park since 2007.

A Magic Springs Season Pass, priced at $69.99, allows for unlimited visits to the park plus up to 18 free shows at Arkansas's largest concert series.  The Season Pass also includes in-park discounts and opportunities to gain other perks, such as a souvenir bottle with discounted refills and a free friend ticket when the Pass is processed at the park by specific dates.

"There is no greater entertainment value in the region than a Magic Springs season pass," said Honeycutt. "You can enjoy the park all season for less than three dollars per week."

Magic Springs Water and Theme Park opens for the 2013 season on April 13.

Splash Island is expected to be ready by Memorial Day Weekend.
