A University of Arkansas student, in the hospital for alcohol poisoning, is now recovering at home.

Investigators say university police officers will meet with the student today.

According to UAPD, the 19 year-old was hospitalized Saturday, after celebrating Spring Rush "Bid Day" at the Sigma Phi Epsilon house
.
Police say they believe the incident may be connected to hazing.

U of A Greek Life and the Office of Student Affairs have also launched investigations into what happened.

Original Story:

On Saturday, a 19-year old member of Sigma Phi Epsilon was sent to the hospital for alcohol poisoning. Police say they believe the incident might be connected to hazing.
The University of Arkansas Greek Life and the Office of Student Affairs is also launching an investigation into a fraternity's activities.
"We take this very seriously, you know the health and well being of our students is the utmost concern for us and that's really where this falls is that we really want our students to be safe," says Scott Flanagin, the Communications Director for Student Affairs.
Communications Director Scott Flanagin says Saturday was "Bid Day" for spring rush. However, there were no official rush events at the time of the incident.
Greek Life has yet to determine if hazing was a contributing factor to this student's hospitalization, but in order for a criminal investigation to begin the University of Arkansas Police Department has to have a complaint.
"That's part of why we think hazing still continues. people want to be part of an organization and sometimes are willing to do whatever they see is necessary to be part of that organization," says Flanagin.
The Office of Greek Life works with organizations at the local and national level to reinforce how dangerous and illegal hazing is.
