U of A Student Booked and Released in Accidental Shooting

WASHINGTON COUNTY--University of Arkansas student booked and released on felony gun charge in accidental campus shooting. 37-Year old Matthew Williamson was booked and released from the Washington County Jail Wednesday on a felony gun charge. Police issued his arrest warrant 24-hours earlier. On February 8th, investigators tell us that Williamson accidentally shot himself at the campus radio station, KUAF in Fayetteville. Police say he was showing his handgun to a co-worker when he accidentally pulled the trigger. Williamson is now out of jail on a $2,500 bond. His next court day is this Friday, March 1st. Williamson is a work-study student at the university. He is charged with felony possession of a handgun on campus, a Class D felony. To see the statute regarding the charge, click here.
