FAYETTEVILLE-- Nolan Richardson was on hand Wednesday night at the Yvonne Richardson Community Center in southeast Fayetteville as a portrait of his late daughter was unveiled in front of staff and board members along with supporters of the facility.

The Richardson Center is a part of the Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department. Over 30,000 young people used the facility during 2012. It opened on October of 1996 and was named in honor of Yvonne Richardson who died of leukemia in 1987.

"I know she has been gone 26 years, it is like she just left," Richardson told the Razorback Nation. "To see a picture or portrait of her like I did right now even though I have that portrait, it is still
there. It is a lump that will never go away."

Richardson also said his daughter would have been happy and proud of the role the Richardson Community Center plays in the lives of the youth of that part of Fayetteville.

"It's right where it needs to be," Richardson added, "right where the kids live and play every day. Yvonne would have liked that. She loved spending
time with young people."
