Allen Canning Company Consolidating Van Buren Plant

By: Brad Reed
Updated: February 28, 2013
The company will consolidate selected operations in Van Buren into its Siloam Springs plant starting March 1st.

The following is from James Phillips, V.P. of Corporate Services for Allens, Inc.

Allens, Inc. will consolidate selected operations located in Van Buren, AR into its Siloam Springs, AR plant, starting on March 1st, 2013.   The Van Buren plant will continue to process hominy, refried beans and snack foods for an undetermined time in the future. The Central Warehouse Allens local distribution center will remain operational as well.

The consolidation will affect approximately 150 jobs. Allens is working with local outplacement services and the state to assist the affected employees through this transition.  This action is consistent with steps that have been taken by Allens in the past to remain a leader in the vegetable processing arena and increase its competitiveness. The consolidation is expected to help Allens' ability to serve its customer base.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Van Buren community, our employees, suppliers and especially our customers for their continued support.
