The Arkansas Highway Commission hopes to install more than 40 miles of cable barriers along the roadway in Pulaski, Lonoke, Prairie and Monroe counties.

Barriers were installed along Interstate 540 from Fayetteville to Bentonville last summer.

According to the Highway Commission, they've already been hit more than 70 times in the last six months.
