A Bentonville Man has been arrested accused of possessing more than a thousand child pornography images.
Attorney General Dustin McDaniel announced today the arrest of 38-year-old Joshua Ivan Howard of Bentonville after an investigation by the Attorney General's Cyber Crimes Unit.
Benton County authorities arrested Howard Wednesday. He's accused of 20 counts of distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child, which is a Class C felony.
During a search at Howard's home on Tunica Court back in July, agents confiscated computers, electronic storage devices and other electronic equipment . The evidence was seized and analzed at the Cyber Crimes Unit Forensic Lab in Little Rock.
Investigators determined Howard was in possession of more than 1,300 images of child pornography.
Special Agend Chad Meli began an investigation into Howard in June after suspecting that child pornography was being stored at Howard's address.
"Our children are victimized every time someone takes part in this kind of criminal activity," McDaniel said. "Those that engage in the viewing or trading of child pornography should face the consequences of those actions, and our office will keep working with other law enforcement agencies across the state to ensure that happens."
The Benton County Sheriff's Office and the Bentonville Police Department assisted in the investigation. The Attorney General's Office will turn over its completed case file to Benton County Prosecuting Attorney Van Stone
