Almost 15 percent of public school graduates from the class of 2006 achieved an Advanced Placement Exam grade of 3 or better. That`s the score that officials believes predicts success in college. Back in the class of 2000, just 10 percent of public school graduates had that result.
Of the estimated 2.7 million students in the class of 2006, 406,000 earned an AP Exam grade of 3 or higher on one or more.
New York, Maryland, Utah, Virginia, and California all saw more than 20 percent of their students at that level.
States with the greatest 2005 to 2006 increase include Arkansas, New Hampshire, Delaware, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Virginia
States with the greatest 2000 to 2006 improvement include Maryland, Delaware, North Carolina, Washington and Florida.
There are kudos for quite a few states that helped eliminate the gap between Latino and english-speaking natives. Topping that list are Alabama, Alaska, the District of Columbia, Florida, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
