Bentonville Police were called out to a home on Ivy Circle after family members had asked dispatchers to check on the person living there.
When officer arrived, they located a note on the front door of the home that indicated a suicide had taken place and the person was inside.
Inside the home, investigators found a note and an unknown liquid next to the man's body.
The note led officers to believe he had taken his own life by cyanide ingestion.
Based on the possibility of hazardous materials being present in
the residence, the officers secured the scene and called for
assistance from the Bentonville Fire Department.
Assistance was also
provided by the Arkansas National Guard's 61st Civil
Support Team based at Camp Robinson.
At this time, samples are being
collected for analysis in an effort to determine if the scene is safe
for detectives to enter and complete their investigation.
Police do not believe there is any danger to the neighborhood.
The main concern is the possibility
of a hazardous material inside a confined space.
