Tight Budget Forces Cuts to Beaver Lake Permit Requests

By: KNWA News
Updated: March 21, 2013
The Beaver Lake Office of the Army Corps of Engineers announced today they will defer all new requests for shoreline use permits until October 1 so the Corps can shift its resources to park operation and maintenance during the summer recreation season.

Under normal circumstances, Beaver Lake Park Rangers would manage the distribution of permits for things like docks, paths or mowing. Now, they'll patrol the parks and assist visitors during the summer season.
They may also have to reduce the hours for their on-duty rangers.

Although new shoreline permit requests won't be accepted until October 1, the corps says efforts will be made to address the backlog of existing permit requests.
