The National Retail Federation predicts eventually people will get it done, estimating americans will spend almost $17-billion this year.
According to Forbes.com, the average person will spend $120 on their sweetheart this Valentine`s day, that`s $19 more than last year.
And though the spending amount has changed, the holiday favorites haven`t-- with flowers, candy and jewelry still topping the list of popular gifts.
"He surprised me one year with a really nice sapphire ring, but then again that was back in the beginning!" says Shelly Kelly of her husband Pat.
"It`s not just romantic with your husband or your girlfriend, but it has expanded to everybody you love...and I think that`s nice," says Yvonne Higgins.
And if you haven`t found that certain something yet...Don`t stress, sometimes a little goes a long way.
Andrea Heying says, "It`s nice to get flowers and stuff but I`d be happy with a $2 rose from Wal-Mart"
