The tax cut is expected to cost the state more than $250 million over the next two years. The bill is projected to save families that spend $150 a week on groceries about $234 on their grocery bills each year, according to the Arkansas Policy Foundation.
Governor Beebe has said he wants to eventually eliminate the grocery tax, but said cutting it by half is a good first step.
