Bankers from all over Northwest Arkansas met at Security Bank in Springdale to put their support behind a program aimed at increasing security at banks.

From now on if a bank robbery takes place, the ABA will announce a reward fund up to 5 thousand dollars for information that leads to the successful prosecution of the robber. The ABA is all encouraging all Arkansas banks encourage customers to remove their hats, hoods and sunglasses as they enter the bank.

Arkansas' bank robberies are up 30 percent, and the first ever fatal bank robbery took place just few days before last Christmas. While bankers know they wont be able to get rid of bank robberies all together, they hope these programs will at least deter them.
