Around lunch time at Pinnacle Hills in Rogers, cars are almost at a stand still on Horsebarn Road. Its a symptom of the development boom in Northwest Arkansas. The buildings sprang up faster than the roads, but transportation workers promise theyre catching up. Three project will get traffic flowing. You may have already seen the traffic lights over the intersection at Horsebarn Road and the interstate 540 exit 83. The lights are the first phase of the Horsebarn Road expansion and could start signaling red and green as early as June. When completed in September of 2008 Horsebarn will be five lanes. Another expansion project in nearing completion at New Hope Road. New Hope has been under construction since 2004. Road workers are widening the road to five lanes from interstate 540 to highway 71. It will be complete in July of this year. Then theres the Promenade Boulevard exit. Several beams of the over pass are running across 540. This project will open in phases with an estimated completion date set for next year. "In the summer of 2008, well be in real good shape in that area." said Rogers Transportation Director Steve Glass. "Drivers need to be patient and as these project near completion."
