Junior Sierra has taken on a tremendous responsibility. The 21-year old is the legal guardian of his seven brothers and sisters ages four to fifteen. The Seirra family lost their mother Rosa in March. The kids were kicked out of their apartment and now they fight to stay together.
Teri Vogel met the family just days after the loss of their mother. Vogel has been helping the Seirras. Junior is the only working member of the family. Junior, with the help of some volunteers, has moved his family into a rent house, but the rent is about half of his monthly income and with seven children, food and clothing can be hard to come by.
"Hes their father figure. He has taken them to the doctor when they are sick. He makes sure there is food on the table. Hes an incredible gentlemen." said Vogel.
Junior didnt want to ask for help, so Vogel and school leaders at Elm Dale Elementary School in Springdale asked anyway. Friday night from six to eight the school will host a silent auction. If you would like to help this family, just swing by any Arvest and let the clerk know you want to give to the Elm Dale Elementary Social Assistance Fund. Make sure they know your donation is in memory of Rosa Sierra.
