Arkansas Childrens Hospital now has an office in our part of the state. Arkansas Childrens Hospital partnered with UAMS to bring the Centers for Children to Lowell. Friday, A ribbon cutting ceremony marked the centers grand opening, but before the ribbon hit the ground the clinic had already made an impact on the lives of some of our youngest northwest Arkansans.
"Pedantric specialist here saw 820 patients in northwest Arkansas in fiscal year 2006." Said Debbie Fisher, The Dean of Medicine at UAMS.
"The way you like to see medical care set up is to have a center point where you have maximum capability. Then you have regional capability and you have local capability. So this becomes a regional kind of thing here." Said Johathan Bates, The C.E.O. of Arkansas Childrens Hospital.
The Centers For Children offers several specialized services, although they dont have all the same in house service the Arkansas Childrens Hospital offers, but that could change.
"This, in the beginning is going to run like a regular doctors office. As we find ourselves going into other things, the ultimate objective is to have beds up here." said Bates.
