Dennis Milligan was quoted in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette as saying "At the end of the day, I believe fully the president is doing the right thing, and I think all we need is some attacks on American soil like we had on Sept. 11th, and the naysayers will come around very quickly to appreciate not only the commitment for President bush, but the sacrifice that has been made by men and women to protect this country." Benton County Republican Ret Miles weighted in on the comment. "I think most people realize its just an off-the-cuff remark and it means what its intended to mean. I dont think anyone will read a wrong thing into it except, like I said, just a very few people who are looking for something to find fault in." Miles said. Milligan was out of the office Tuesday but has agreed to an interview Wednesday.
