According to recent figures, the Wal-Mart corporation could lose over $3 billion due to shoplifting and theft this year alone. One business expert we spoke with says the reason for the apparent increase in theft may have something to do with a new form of employee scheduling that the worlds largest retailer recently adopted. The policy calls for fewer employees working at each store during non-peak hours, meaning sometimes theres simply less people at Wal-Mart to catch people stealing. The company isnt saying much about the problem, and is quick to point out that when you consider how much revenue they generate each year...their theft loss numbers are still better than most retailers.
