Eleven-year-old Lucas Gardner and his sister Eden say they were walking down the road when their neighbor, 42-year-old James Martin tried to run them over with his truck. Eden says as she walked home from a friends house Martin drove up behind her and she had to dive next to a tree to get out of the way. "I was going through my head thinking 'get out of the way' like my mom told me if he tries to hurt us, get as far as possible away," she says. Lucas says Martin drove up behind him next, as he was riding his bicycle. "He came about five feet away from the back tire on my bike and then he slowed down and came up beside me and swerved over at me." Lucas fell off his bike trying to avoid Martin, and scraped up his hands and knees... and Eden twisted her ankle. Sheriff's deputies arrested Martin Friday morning on charges of aggravated assault. He's already bonded out, but is to have no contact with the Gardner family. Their father says this isn't the first time they've had problems with Martin and he's thankful his children weren't seriously injured. "Lucas fell backwards because it startled him, well he could've fell underneath that truck and got ran over," David Gardner says. "He's starting to scare me a little bit. Thinking of if I fell in front of that truck he could've ran me over and I could've been dead or something," Lucas says.
