Who knew Tyson Foods would get into the business of alternative fuels? What theyre basically doing is turning fat (which they have plenty of) into fuel. Today the food conglomerate announced that they are starting a company called "Dynamic Fuels, LLC, .partnered with Syntroleum.
Chairman & CEO of Tyson Foods, Richard Bond, said, "together we plan to use renewable feed stocks to produce synthetic fuels including renewable diesel, jet, and military fuels."
And like Bond said, their product will work with everyday diesel vehicles, as well as the high powered jets in the military.
The feedstock will come from Tyson plants, but they will also access feedstocks from other sources as well to fuel the fuel.
As far as production and jobs go, the first plant will produce 75 million gallons of synthetic fuels in its first year. The plant is set to start 2008 - somewhere in the south central part of the U.S. The exact site is still to be determined. This will generate 250 short term construction jobs and 65 highly skilled permanent positions.
