Some two-thousand people attended funeral services Sunday for 12-year-old DeAuntae Farrow at the West Memphis Civic Auditorium. Farrow was killed by a West Memphis Police officer June 22nd. Police say Farrow was holding what turned out to be a toy gun when he was shot. Family members dispute the police version of events, and city officials in West Memphis appealed for calm as state and federal investigations into the incident continue. Civil rights activist Reverend Al Sharpton attended the services, and asked citizens to remain calm while continuing to seek justice. Crittenden County Sheriff's deputies provided security for the funeral, and a West Memphis Police spokesman said his department stayed away from the services, out of respect to the family.
