A Van Buren man has been arrested after dousing himself in gasoline and threatening his mother and cops.

On Monday, Van Buren police said a woman claimed her son had been abusive to her, making death threats over the last few weeks.  She told them he said he would "Burn the house down with both of them in it."

When officers arrived at the home, they say the woman's son, Jason Strickland, ran to the back of the house - locking himself in a room.  Police say officers kicked in the door and found Strickland, 43, standing in his underwear with a gas can in one hand and a lighter in the other. He told police he would kill them both if they  came closer.

Strickland then poured the gas on himself and the carpet around him, according to reports.  After a 15 minute standoff, he surrendered to the officers.  He was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Battery 2nd, Felony Terroristic Threatening, and Criminal Trespass.

Police say no one was injured.
