Three words from three local Olympic fans:

"Epic," says Micah Lietzke.

"Uplifting," says Ann Harris.

"Different," says Chad Kingsolver.

They describe the world's biggest athletic stage.

A twenty-six sport spectacle, including some games that only get seen every four years.

"What do they call that, you have the birdie?" Kingsolver says.

Fans around here plan to be plugged in, but some admit, not every contest, match or race is recognizable.

"Water volleyball. Polo. Water polo," Harris guesses, looking at an Olympic sport photo.

"Handball?" asks Kingsolver as he also looks at a photo. " No I've never heard of that."

"I don't know, I know it, but it's just it's not there," Lietzke says as I give him a hint of what one sport is: "It rhymes with shmadminton."

"Oh, badminton."

After taking a peek at some pictures to jog their memory, some fans thought about what they would like to see added to the Olympic agenda.

"I play ultimate frisbee, so that would be pretty sweet to eventually get in there," Lietzke says.

"Paintball," Byron Rhodes, another Olympic fan, says.

"Teatherball," says 7-year-old fan, Sydney Adair.

"Rowing?" Harris proposes.

I inform her that rowing is already an Olympic sport.

"Oh," Harris laughs.

I guess we'll have to wait until 2016 to see if those proposed plans make it to the platform...

But recognized or not, once this world-class competition kicks off, it'll be tough to turn away.

Harris describes why: "There's no other agenda other than to excel."

"It's very emotional."
