The report shows 2,219 homes were sold in October, down from 2,762 in October 2005.
An even greater decrease in home sales took place in the state`s top five housing markets, where 1,163 homes were sold in October, down from 1,523 in October 2005 a 23.7 percent decline.
Benton County experienced the largest drop of the state`s five markets, down 34 percent. Pulaski County sold the most units of the five major markets in October with 398 homes.
The statewide average price in October was $152,197, up 1.63 percent from October 2005.
The highest average home price for the month was in Benton County $200,984, an 11.4 percent increase over October 2005.
The average October price of a house in Washington County was $184,214, down almost 8 percent from the same month in 2005. Pulaski County`s average price was $161,505, down 3 percent from last year, and Saline County`s was $161,505, down 2 percent.
