A year ago this week, a 6.4 million dollar grant from the Governors office to the University, funded the Arkansas Research and Education Optical Network. Its an internet network that will increase on campus network speed by 20 times and off campus network speed by almost 100 times.
This puts Arkansas on the high speed track concerning technology.
Governor Mike Huckabee says Arkansas is now on the map to compete for business worldwide.
This technological advancement will now help recruit high tech companies to the state and be able to support their projects without leaving Arkansas.
This fiber optic network will not only enhance the economic development but also the education at the University.
