Gang activity has shown itself in different ways through out Benton County. From graffiti in Siloam Springs, to a taped beating at the Bentonville High School gang activity is apparent. Shattered glass is just the latest of many crimes police say was done by gangs in Rogers. Rogers police have been investigating gang activity since 1997.
Benton County Deputy Doug Gay says the problems Rogers and other police departments have dealt with are now moving into the rural areas of the county. The Sheriffs Office brought in an undercover D.E.A. agent to teach deputies how to spot gang members.
Investigator Chris Robbins moved to Benton County from west coast. Robbins says he started seeing gang activity in the county two years ago.
"From the early 90s when I came to this area, there was very few (gang members) now in the year 2007, there are a lot of them. It feels like I’m back in southern California." Said Robbins.
