house2007-07-13-1184366698.jpgMatt and Natalie Wood bought their first home in September 2005. Built by Next Generation Industries and filled with Bio-Based foam insulation and a steel frame-- they couple says they were told those features would save energy money in the long run. But Matt says their bills were as expensive as ever... plus he says other problems caused flooding and dust problems...and a mysterious film developed on their mirrors. "If you put mirrors in this house they develop this film on them you can't wash or scrape off. I have no idea what that is but I can only imagine that that same film is developing on my skin and eyes," he says. After a few months, Matt says they began having upper respiratory problems and Natalie developed an ulcer on her cornea. Suspicious the house had something to do with it, the couple decided to test their theory. "We stayed with a friend of mine for a couple of months and during that time Natalie's eye would clear up, but when we would go back to the house it would come back." Matt alerted the builder to their problems and the builder performed some tests, but Matt says the tests were never conclusive. And they weren't the only ones having trouble. "It got so bad that when we would come home all the neighbors would huddle and talked about the problems. No one wanted to be in their house. One neighbor actually bought a motor home and was living in it in his back yard." Finally, just a year and a month after they'd moved in, the Woods sold their home back to the builder and decided to sue. We called Bio-Based Systems but were told the person we needed to speak with is out until Monday. The Woods now live in a new home... and say their health problems are gone.
