breaking news
A viewer wanted to know, "What are the nasty looking, hard shell green beetles that are dropping out of the sky? When will they go away? Where did they come from?" And even though thats technically three Flippin questions, Ill do my best to get the answers. First... hard shell green beetle. What could it be? According to several experts I spoke with, its probably a Japanese Beetle or a June Bug. Both are pretty common right now. So common we found a couple of specimens just a few feet from our front door at KNWA.
Next on the list, when will they go away? The answer...around September when the feeding season is over. Okay, only one more question to go. Where did they come from? As it ends up, they were already here. The Japanese Beetle lives underground as larva until June or July. It then comes out looking the way most people are familiar seeing.
Now, I wasnt provided a photo of the insect in question....so its tough to give a perfect answer. In fact it could be any of three insects according to several experts I spoke with. However, most agree...Its probably a June bug or a Japanese Beetle. There you have it, three Flippin questions in one. Keep them coming
