It’s a device that is helping communication in hospitals. It’s called a phone translator. The way it works is, the patient who doesn’t speak English gets on one phone and the doctor or nurse get on the other phone. The medical person then calls into the national translating system and specifies which language they need translated. Moments later a translator gets on the phone as a third party and is the go between.
The phone translators are at all three Northwest Medical Centers in Northwest Arkansas and are provided in all ER rooms and labor and delivery departments.
