Internet Sales Tax

For those who choose to buy things online and not pay sales taxes, your days may be numbered. Later this fall, some legislation up for debate would add a state sales tax to all items online. Officials estimate this could bring in an extra $100 million, per year, to the state. If you pay for high speed internet or dial-up, a moratorium on taxing internet access was renewed in 2004 and will expire in a few years. Many say the shipping charges offset the amount taxes would add, but if taxes are added, online shoppers could be hit hard.
