Hilton Homewood Suites will make a new home at the entrance of the Fort Smith Regional Airport. The hotel will have 88 suites and should be completed by next year. Fort Smith Hotelier and Developer behind the Homewood suites, Marion driscoll, says Fort Smith is maintaining growth and has a good business atmosphere. Candlewood Suites is also starting construction across the street from Homewood Suites. President of Southern Building Service, Brian Puckett, says even though there is new businesses moving in, growth is pretty slow. "This year of 2007 has been a really off year but, work is slow. At least in the River Valley it has been pretty continuous. But, we dont have the dramatic highs and lows that we see in Northwest Arkansas and this year has been dramatically slower than the previous six or seven years" said Brian Puckett. Even though some construction businesses say they are slow within a mile radius on Phoenoix and Greenwood, a health and rehab center, Liberty bank and a Target is being built and should be completed within the next year.
