Many residents say they'd like to close the stretch of Emma between Virginia and Pleasant Streets for safety and so that Springdale High School can be renovated. Opponents say it would hurt businesses on Emma. The Springdale Planning Commission met Tuesday night to decide if a portion of Emma Avenue should be permanently shut down. The commission unanimously decided it should close for good. After considering the recommendation, the city council will vote on the issue later this month.
