A week ago, the stretch of road near the Pinnacle Hills Promenade looked more like a pond. Flooded with around 2 feet of water, many unsuspecting drivers were stranded when they tried to make it across. Daniel Ellis, one of the engineers working on the project, says since the surrounding roads weren't paved, all the rain water washed down to two small drains on Promenade Boulevard. He says the drains are only meant to take in water off of that road...but on Saturday they were draining water off of a 56-acre spread of land, and it was more water than the system could handle. Ellis says his company is taking steps to make sure this doesn't happen again. This week, crews went to work adding fencing and gravel dams around the construction zones to keep rain water in and motorists dry. Ellis says once the new roads are finished flooding won't be an issue. The roads should be paved by the end of next week.
