Arkansas has the most women without health insurance in the nation. Which means no annual pap smears, mammograms or dental visits.
The report also shows obesity among women in arkansas went up four percent in the last three years.
And Dr. Lisa McGraw of the Van Buren Family Medical Clinic says its easy to pinpoint why.
"Sedentary lifestlye. And for women in particular. Having children and then being caught up taking care of their families and not having time to take care of their own preventive need." said Dr. McGraw.
So, what do doctors recommend to boost Arkansas grade up to an A?
"When providers have a female come into the office. We need to be proactive about having that woman get her preventive care. Know about her family history be aware of any risk factors for heart disease thats going to decrease life expectancy." said Dr. McGraw.
This study also shows, the life expectancy for women in Arkansas is lower than the national average.
But, Dr. Mcgraw says to keep yourself healthy, get regular medical check-ups. And that might even help boost Arkansas grade.
