Despite the fact that there were more delays and lost baggage than any other summer in the past ten years, airline companies are making more money than ever. The L.A. Times reports this summer was one of the worst for air travelers. But the airlines are not seeing those customer complaints reflected in their dollar signs. Some of the nation's most popular airlines are watching their profits double and triple from quarter to quarter this year. According to the article, all those profits are the results of cutting costs and squeezing more passengers into planes. Some frequent flyers out at XNA are feeling the pain. "I was a flight attendant for American Airlines but it was in the 80s. Talk about customer service, that was the number one thing that they trained us in, and it's completely lost now," says Debra Douglas-Hogue. "My dad just came here from Philadelphia and he was supposed to get in last Friday at 4:30 and he didn't get in until one in the morning," says Annie Dunigan. "We've had lots of problems with delays and not making our flights." However, not everyone says their experience in the air is unpleasant. "It's been a good year for me, I travel four or five times a year and I always travel the express route. I take my bags on the plane, so it gets unloaded for me real quick, and I don't see the problems," says Houston, TX resident Steve Wernecke.
