Judge Jo Hart of Mountain View will face off against Judge Raymond Abramson of Holly Grove. Both are currently appeals court judges.
The two are vying for the seat vacated by Associate Justice Jim Gunter. He announced last year that he would not seek re-election. Gunter has served in the state's highest court since 2004.
Abramson announced his candidacy last May. Because he was appointed to the Arkansas Court of Appeals in 2010, Abramson was not eligible to run for election. It was at that time he decided to run for the spot on the high court. Abramson has been a lawyer for 34 years.
Judge Hart has served on the Court of Appeals since 1998. She chose to enter the race via petition signatures in December. In addition to an extensive background in law, she retired as a Full Bird Colonel from the Army Reserve JAG CORPS.
The primary election is set for May 22.
