Medicare Confusion

By:
Updated: April 17, 2007
Since Sunday, Carl Collier has dealt with chaos in his pharmacy. Many of his customers want to fill their prescriptions under Medicare`s new drug plan, but the process has proved to be less than smooth sailing. The claims filed with the new program have been continuously rejected. "At this point we`re advancing our customers their medicine and we`re taking care of our customers," Collier says. Collier says he must pay drug suppliers weekly and if this goes on much longer, suppliers will quit furnishing medicines altogether. "These problems need to get fixed and they need to get fixed fast. We`re on the phone with them night and day trying to work on claims but the ball has been dropped and we need to see it rectified." Collier recommends Medicare recipients stay with the pharmacy and pharmacist they normally use to recieve the best possible assistance. "This is not a time for anyone to go to a new pharmacy if they`re a Medicare recipient, they need to stay right where they are."
