One of the most romantic holidays is fast approaching. On Tuesday many couples will celebrate Valentine`s Day and express their love through a gift.
KNWA`s Meghan Dill spoke with many shoppers at the Northwest Arkansas Mall who are a common mission, to get their sweetheart a gift that lets them know how special they are.
Melissa and Brett, a couple shopping for earrings, says it`s a special holiday for them.
"It`s the day you spend with the one you love the most. Make a big foo foo deal about it and make her feel special."
With only two days to go, many folks at the mall are doing last minute shopping. Ryan Nave is looking for the perfect gift for his wife and mother to their toddler.
"Haven`t found much yet but we`re still looking. Searching fo something that says how much the little guy loves his mom because she takes cares of him."
While many are shopping for loved ones, some are using this holiday to express appreciation. Larkin Plemmoris is shopping for his teacher, "I got a flower for one of my teachers."
According to the National Retail Federation, 13.7 billion dollars is expected to be spent on Valentine`s Day gifts.
Normally men will spend more than women on this romantic holiday. If you still haven`t bought a Valentine`s Day greeting card, you`re not alone. Sixty percent of folks usually wait until the last six days before the romantic holiday to do so.
Sales are up this year, as the average consumer will spend one hundred dollars this year as opposed to 97 dollars last year.
