He often appears in public view wearing very little, if any clothing -- something that has authorities concerned. Washington County deputies arrested the man again this week for exposing himself. KNWA`s Alexa Hamblin has the story.
It`s the story of a man with a long history of arrests for indecent exposure, and we met the flasher himself on Thursday.
67-year-old Vernon Holland`s latest arrest came Wednesday. Washington County sheriff`s deputies arrested Holland for indecent exposure after a report that he was nude and fondling himself on his front porch, which is easily viewable from Highway 62 in Summers.
"I think the biggest concern is he may go further," says Lincoln Police Chief Jim Acker.
Police in nearby Lincoln have dealt with Holland countless times.
"We`ve received calls on him for at least 20 years, maybe longer," Chief Acker says. "We get calls that he`s standing there in the yard or at his door naked."
Police say sometimes he`s naked, sometimes he`s wearing skimpy underwear, but he`s always in view.
"We`ve had reports of school bus drivers calling in on him that he`s out there, I think a lot of times he may be wearing thongs," Chief Acker explains.
Lincoln Police say Holland is exposing what could be considered male and female parts -- officers say his chest has been greatly enhanced with female growth hormone. A fact that seemed clear as we spoke to Holland, and he professed his innocence.
"How can you be arrested so many times, if nobody saw anything?" we asked.
"Maybe it`s been unjustly," Vernon Holland offered, his chest halfway exposed beneath a lace robe. Holland then asked us to leave.
Holland has been arrested dozens of times over the last 20 years, and convicted of misdemeanor indecent exposure. The crime becomes a felony if it`s proven that Holland exposed himself to a child under the age of fifteen.
Holland is set to go before a Prairie Grove district court judge on June 6th for his latest arrest.
