Profile Senator Blanche Lincoln

The 2010 election season has a been a tough road for incumbents all across the country, but perhaps no candidate has felt the pressure more than Arkansas' own U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln.

"I think it's important with what I've been trying tell people is that this is an election about choices," said Lincoln.

Choices which the Senator hopes favor her on election night. Though at the moment she currently trails her Republican opponent, Congressman John Boozman by nearly 20 points.

"He's a very nice guy. I'll always say that about him," added Lincoln. "There are very big differences between myself and Congressman Boozman. Very big differences and I think differences that matter."

The Senator, who made several stops in Fayetteville Monday, believes in order to move the country in a more positive direction, it's crucial to look at every idea.

"There is no doubt that we've got challenges to face, but we're not going to solve those challenges or the problems in this country by simply saying no," said Lincoln, adding, "We cannot sit on the sidelines and boo the other people out there on the field."

According to Lincoln, who chairs the Senate Agriculture Committee (the first Arkansan to do so), she's the best bet for the Natural State, touting her stance against privatizing Social Security and Medicare as well as being the only candidate in the race who has experience in eliminating deficit and balancing a national budget.

"We need more people that are willing to come out of these fox holes and these polarized places that Democrats and Republicans find themselves, and get out on the battlefield and really look for the common ground," said Lincoln. "I stand up for what's good for Arkansas and what's good for the people of Arkansas and the children of Arkansas...I don't just follow my party line and unfortunately, that's really what we see from Congressman Boozman is time and time again, he chooses his party over Arkansas."
