Arwah Jaber Trial Underway

By:
Updated: April 17, 2007
Jurors were picked today in the Arwah Jaber trial. Nearly a year after being arrested and charged with terrorist activity, Arwah Jaber`s trial is underway. Prosecutors claim Arwah Jaber was involved with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Organization, a group the US Department of State lists as a foreign terrorist organization. He was attending the University of Arkansas, working on his PhD in bio chemistry, when according to a US District Court affidavit, Jaber sent an email to his professors. Part of that email says...."I decided to take an honorable job in Palestine with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Organization to pursue a more noble cause, freedom justice and peace for the Palestinians and to fight the Israeli terrorism." Jaber currently lives in Fayetteville with his wife. We went to Jabers house, where the man who answered the door says these charges are foolish. We spoke to one of Jabers neighbors, Robert Hunter. "It caught the neighborhood by surprise when we heard somebody was connected to terrorists. I dont judge them until the courts convict them and I still see them as good neighbors." Jaber has pleaded innocent on all charges. If convicted Jaber faces up to 15 years in federal prison and or a 250-thousand dollar fine.
