Wondering what was on the mind of the top 13 while they sang songs from music legends Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder?  When asked, many said picking the right song was most nerve-wracking.

"If you choose the wrong song you won't stand out," worried Colton Dixon.

"Song choice is THE biggest obstacle throughout this whole thing," echoed Shannon Magrane.

Other contestants seemed more confident in their backstage interviews before the live show.

"I think I am doing a good job," proclaimed Elise Testone.  "I'm excited to show people what I got figured out."

While Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, and Randy Jackson critique each performance, the contestants know that it's up to the fans to decide who is good enough to make the cut.

"I'm mentally preparing in my head just to lay it all out on the line and show my soft side," said Erika Van Pelt.

In other Idol notes, season 10 winner Scotty McCreery has recorded the goodbye song for season 11.  Viewers will hear Scotty's covered version of Tim McGraw's hit "Please Remember Me" as the contestants see a montage of their Idol journey.
