The American Idol contestants say they're struggling to make sense of the difference of opinions over song choice between mentor Jimmy Iovine and the judges.
"We're taking 4, 5 minute songs and condensing them to a minute and half," explains Erika Van Pelt. "It is just super hard to do."
"If they're giving you criticism to tell you to do one thing and it's not you, then I respectfully don't do it," says Colton Dixon.
Following the surprise exit of Jermaine Jones, 18 year-old contestant Hollie Cavanaugh says she's focusing on being a good role model for younger girls.
"There are younger girls looking up to me and thinking that's what i want to do one day," says Cavanaugh. "So I'm definitely not here to stray them in any wrong way."
