Federal Grant Offered for New Airpacks

The federal government is offering a grant to help the Bentonville Fire Department buy new airpacks.
Chief Dan White says the department needs $158,000 dollars to purchase the new airpacks that meet the National Fire Protection Association's current standards.
The federal grant, announced Thursay would pay $142,200, but Bentonville would have to pay the remaining ten percent. That means the department needs approval from the city council before accepting the grant.
The chief says he's gathering information now to present to the city council, and isn't sure when it will be put on an agenda.
