Updated: April 17, 2007
Akaphong Somee is scheduled to be transported to the Washington County jail Monday night, after being arrested in Fort Smith Sunday. Somee is the main suspect in the Springdale murder of 19 year old Yreena Eguia at the Links Apartments in Springdale early Saturday. Investigators believe, Somee and Eguia were dating, and that she was shot after the two got into an argument. Through Somees cell phone calls, Springdale police tracked him to Fort Smith, and notified police down there where he might be. Fort Smith police say they found him at a house, and when they got there, they say he jumped out of a window and ran off. Officers say when they caught up to Somee, he tried attacking them with a broken beer bottle. In Sebastian county Somee is facing two counts of aggravated assault and running from police. Somee will remain in the Washington County jail pending a formal arraignment. Fort Smith police say Somee is a fugitive out of Las Vegas, wanted for armed robbery, kidnapping and burglary.
